The Wizard of Oz is one of the most beloved movies ever made, and has spawned some of the most popular Halloween costumes of all time.  Dorothy, The Wicked Witch of the West, Glinda The Good Witch, Munchkins, The Lion, The Tin Man, and the Scarecrow are all costumes that people still love to wear.  The Sci Fi Channel created its own re-imagining of the tale of The Wizard of Oz called Tin Man which won a lot of critical praise and awed fans.

Before she can set off with Toto to the Emerald City the Wicked Witch of the West shows up and threatens Dorothy.  The witch is the sister of the witch who was killed and wants her sister’s ruby slippers which contain great power. Glinda waves her wand and puts the slippers on Dorothy’s feet, which causes the witch to vow that she will get even with Dorothy and get those slippers.  Dorothy and Toto set off down the yellow brick road. Through a series of adventures they meet The Scarecrow, who needs a brain. They also meet the Tin Man, who needs a heart. And finally they meet the Lion, who needs some courage.  Together they all travel to the Emerald City. Dogged by the wicked witch the whole way they finally arrive at the Emerald City and get to see the great Oz. He demands that they bring him the witch’s broom as proof that they are serious before he will grant their requests. The group sets off for the witch’s castle and eventually they outsmart her and kill her. When they return to Oz they discover the great and powerful Oz is a sham. He is a sideshow performer whose hot air balloon drifted into Oz one day from Kansas. He mistakenly leaves Oz without Dorothy and then Glinda appears again to tell Dorothy that the ruby slippers will take her home if she taps her heels together three times and repeats “there is no place like home.” She does, and wakes up in Kansas in her own bed.
